Finger Crochet

Saturday, January 21, 2017

Henika District Library

149 S Main St Wayland MI 49348    Map

12 Noon - 2:00 pm

Last year we did Arm Knitting. This year we are trying Finger Crocheting. You will have your choice of two projects. A Blanket or a Scarf. The stitches are the same for each but for the blanket you will need at least 12 skeins of yarn. For the scarf you only need three skeins of yarn.

For the workshop you will need to bring three (3) skeins of yarn. You will either complete the scarf pattern with this or get a good start on the blanket. There is no need to bring all 12 skeins if you choose to do the blanket. Your yarn should be a size 6 or larger for these projects. For the scarf, if you don't like it to be too bulky around your neck, you can either do two skeins of size 6 or do three skeins of size 4 or 5.

Colors are up to you. We will be crocheting all three strands at the same time to make a nice bulky piece. So you can choose to have all three skeins the same color, or do some contrasting color work with your skeins.

Any questions? Talk with Carol at the library.

3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Interested in doing your family history? Join us on Saturday, February 11 at 3:00 pm for a Family Heritage Workshop.

This workshop is for beginners. We have Sara Weyenberg from the Ransom District Library in Plainwell who will be showing you how to get started. She will talk about Ancestry and Heritage Quest and give you lots of tips and tricks.

Lynnette Bean will be here to talk about getting your DNA done to help you with locating matches that might be out there that you are not aware of.

Linda Stoepker from the Then and Now Genealogical and Historical Society of Allegan County will be here to tell you what resources they have available for your research of family in this area.

There are computers available here at the library, but we strongly encourage you to bring your own if you have one. That way you will be able to download anything about your family to your device. If you need to use one of the library's computers please bring a flash drive to save your discoveries on. We do have an 8 GB flash drive for sale at the library for $5.00. Please register for this workshop as seating is limited. In Encore if you search by Family Heritage it will come right up. Click on it and you will be able to sign up. Registration opens on January 30th. We request that no more than two family members come to the workshop. You should both plan on sharing a computer whether yours or ours so we can accomodate everyone who needs a computer.
